Sandpiper Jewelry Designs
Welcome! Each piece of designer jewelry from Sandpiper Jewelry Designs is a unique, wearable piece of art that either I, or my husband
Doug, has handmade.
Much of my jewelry is made with flamework beads. When I first began making
jewelry, I purchased flamework beads from various fantastic artists around the country. But since then, I have
taken classes and make all my own beads. All other materials that are used in each piece, such as Sterling
Silver, Bali Sterling Silver, Gemstones, and Pearls, are of very high quality.

What is Flamework, a.k.a Lampwork?
Flameworking is a type of glasswork that uses a gas-fueled
torch to melt rods of clear and colored glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed into a bead by shaping it onto
a piece of metal, called a mandrel, and then manipulating it with a variety of tools and hand movements. It is also known
as lampworking or torchworking. The term "lampworking" comes from a time when oil-fueled lamps were used
to heat the glass. Although the art form has been practiced since ancient times, it became widely practiced in Murano,
Italy in the 14th century.
I take enormous pride in creating each piece and hope that you'll find something in my
catalog that you like. I can also create custom orders; call or email to let me know what you want. I look forward to doing business with you!
